Position Announcement
Position Title Instructor, Digital Arts.
Appointment: Full-time, two-year appointment.
Salary: Competitive. Benefits.
Qualifications:
MFA degree required. The applicant should have expertise in one or
more of the following areas: 3D computer animation and modeling,
digital interactive art, multimedia, or related field.
Responsibilities:
Teach studio courses in digital arts. Maintain personal creative
studio development and scholarly/professional activity. Participate
in educational and professional duties and activities within the
digital arts area and in the School of Art.
Starting Date: August 15, 2002.

Facilities: The computer art laboratories in the School of Art
include the following hardware and software: a 20-seat Apple G4 OSX
lab, a 20-seat SGI-Visual Workstation 320 Dual Pentium NT lab, 2 SGI
Visual Workstation 540 Quad Pentium III XEON systems, a 4 processor
Onyx with Reality Engine Graphics, and 7 Media 100 s non-linear
video editing workstation. All computers networked via 10/100
ethernet to the fiber backbone of the university and to an SKI
Origin 200 with 40gb DLT backup. BGSU is an Alias/Wavefront Campus
partner with licenses for Mac OSX and NT (Maya Unlimited, Composer,
StudioPaint 3D, and Maya Fusion). Other software includes:
Photoshop, Director, Painter, After Effects, Worldup,
World Toolkit, and various other software packages.
The Digital Arts Program: The School of Art offers BFA and MFA
degrees in Digital Arts with three tracks:
1) Computer Animation -- both 2D and 3D with a strong emphasis on 3D
animation, including non-linear digital video editing and
compositing;
2) Imaging -- still images with both 2D digital imaging and 3D
modeled & rendered still images; 3) Interactive Multimedia -- with
an emphasis on Internet and CD-ROM art, including Html, Javascript,
Macromedia Director and Lingo programming. The program currently
has approximately 280 undergraduate majors.
